Hisar, Jan 30 (UNI) The Large-scale deaths of poultry birds in Bhiwani district need not be a cause for panic as the cause was not bird flu, Disease Investigation Officer of HAU Dr N K Mahajan said here today.
''Death of poultry birds in Ajay Poultry Farm near village Jitai in Bhiwani district was caused by Respiratory Disease Complex, Mycoplasma and E.Coli and not bird flu," said Dr N K Mahajan who visited the farm along with Dr. Gulshan Narang today to probe the matter.
However, the blood samples of the birds have been sent to RDDL laboratory, Jalandhar and HAU Veterinary Labs for detailed investigations, Dr Mahajan added.
According to poultry farm owner Krishan Kumar, about 4500 birds died here in past three days, and the large number of mortality caused panic in Bhiwani, Hisar and nearby districts as rumour spread yesterday that birds were dying due to bird-flu.
Dr.V.P.Nehra, Deputy Director, Animal Husbandry was the first to conduct the primary check of the disease and he had informed the Deputy Commissioner that it was not bird flu.
There were about 10,000 birds in the poultry farm where this disease struck three days back.
