Morena, MP, Jan 30 (UNI) One villager was shot dead and ten policemen, including a Station House Officer, were injured in a clash between villagers and Madhya Pradesh police personnel at Gangouli village in Rajasthan's Dholpur district early today, police said.
On a tip-off, police personnel from Sumavali police station reached the village to recover buffaloes stolen from different areasof the district, but cattle thieves assisted by villagers attacked them. In the clash, 10 police were injured, three of them seriously. Sumavali SHO Shyam Sharma was among the injured.
The armed villagers also looted a rifle and wireless set from the policemen, according to Morena's Superintendent of Police Santosh Singh.
In retaliation, police also opened fire killing a villager Kallu Gurjar (22).
Mr Singh said policemen were successful in recovering 14 buffaloes, stolen from different areas of Morena district.
