RGGVY launched at Goalpokhar in North Dinajpur district
Kolkata, Jan 29 (UNI) Union Minister for Power Sushil Kumar Shinde today launched the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY) at Goalpokhar in North Dinajpur district of West Bengal.
Launching the scheme, Mr Shinde said the RGGVY had started all over India to provide electricity to each and every village by 2009.
He also said through the RGGVY 2,25,000 villages would be provided with electricity and as a result 7.80 crore families would be benefited.
The Power Minister reiterated that the UPA Government was bound to realise the dream of the "Father of the Nation".
Information&Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priya Ranjan Dasminshi was also present on the occasion.

said,
"Still
there
are
a
lot
of
villages
in
the
country
where
electricity
has
not
reached.
But
the
way
the
Union
Government
has
started
the
electrification
project,
the
situation
will
change
very
soon.
"
He
also
said,
"
Goalpokhar
is
one
of
the
most
backward
areas
of
the
North
Dinajpur
district,
where
still
today
many
people
are
living
without
electricity.
This
scheme
is
aimed
at
those
people.
"
