Munaf, Tiwari to replace R P and Yuvraj

By Staff

New Delhi, Jan 29 (UNI) Munaf Patel and Manoj Tiwari will replace injured pacer R P Singh and middle-order batsman Yuvraj Singh, a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) statement said here today.

The Chairman of Selectors, Dilip Vengsarkar and BCCI Secretary Niranjan Shah spoke to Sanjay Jagdale, Bhupinder Singh, M S Dhoni, Chetan Chauhan and the two selectors who are presently in Australia, V Raju and Ranjib Biswal, before deciding to send Munaf Patel as replacement for R P Singh, who injured his hamstring during the fourth and final Test against Australia at Adelaide.

Manoj Tiwari has been selected as back up for Yuvraj, who is nursing a knee injury and will be examined by an orthopedic surgeon in Melbourne tomorrow.

He will miss India's opening match of the Commomwealth Bank tri-series against Australia on February 3 but is slated to be fit for the second ODI against Sri Lanka on February 5.
