Davangere, Karnataka, Jan 29 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Police who interrogated SIMI Activist Riyazuddin, allegedly trained by Pakistan ultras on disruptive activities, reportedly gathered some vital information on the Hyderabad Mecca Masjid Blasts.

According to police sources, Riyazuddin, a native of Hyderabad, was arrested in Honnali in this district last week. Interrogation revealed certain information on the Masjid blasts that took place last year near the Charminar.

As many as 14 people were killed and another 40 injured in the explosions which rocked after Friday prayers.

The Andhra Pradesh Police remained clueless on the incident so far and the arrest of Riyazuddin might help to crack the blast case.

Riyazuddin and his accomplice Asadullah of Hospet were caught by the people after the duo were moving suspiciously on a two-wheeler.

They were being grilled by sleuths belonging to the Intelligence Unit from Bangalore and a police official from Hyderabad for the last three days.

Sources in Intelligence Department said Riyazuddin had revealed his connection with the banned outfit and his visit to Pakistan.

Sources said Riyazuddin was the son of Mohammad Nasruddin, the prime suspect in the killing of former Gujarat Home Minister Hiren Pandya, who was currently lodged in the Tihar Jail.

Meanwhile, Anti Terrorist Cell IGP M K Nagaraj who arrived here yesterday, left Bangalore after interrogating Riyazuddin, who was in police custody today.

The local police were not present When Mr Nagaraj questioned the accused, the sources added.
