Godrej to become topline AC by 2009

Hyderabad, Jan 29 (UNI) Leveraging the '200 Cool Zones' it has proposed to locate across India, Godrej Appliances, India's fastest growing air conditioner brand company, today announced its plans to be a topline Air Conditioner (AC) player in Andhra Pradesh by 2009, with a target to secure 10 per cent market share in the segment.

Addressing a gathering, Company's COO George Menezes and Godrej Appliances, Sales and Marketing Vice-President Kamal Nandi, showcased Godrej's new range of Navigator Window Air Conditioners, which they claimed was the first of its kind in India, incorporating the latest i-flow technology for maximum cooling efficieny.

As a unique industry initiative, the company was locating cool zones AC Advisor to provide consumers advise on purchasing and maintaining Air Conditioners. It also launched a dedicated website to educate consumers and a mobile phone enabled software to calculate the heat load and recommend the required AC tonnage, based on inputs entered by the consumer.

The air conditioner market in Andhra Pradesh was currently growing at 66 per cent of which window ACs comprised 37 per cent and the rest accounted for split AC.

At 100 per cent growth YOY overall in this category and 158 per cent in Andhra Pradesh, Godrej would continue the same growth pattern over the next two years. The company was looking at 10 per cent market share in the country by 2008.

It was planning to double its share in window AC, with the launch of Navigator Series, Mr Nandi added.
