Cabinet colleagues should function with trust: Ramachandran
Puducherry, Jan 29 (UNI) Former Puducherry Chief Minister M D R Ramachandran today called up on Chief Minister N Rangasamy and his cabinet collegues to function with utmost trust and understanding.
Addressing a press conference at his residence here, he said a democratic set up should be an open book and the elected government must function in a transparent manner.
Want of such transparency was causing embarassment and giving room for speculations, the former Puducherry speaker said adding that if exchange of views and frequent meetings were held no problems would crop up.
Stating that there was nothing impossible in democracy, Mr Ramachandran said that instead of clamouring for more powers, the rulers should exercise their powers to serve the people in a proper manner.
On the opening of public account for Puducherry with the Reserve Bank of India(RBI) Mr Ramachandran said he feared that a threat to the Union Territory status might arise once financial crisis crops up.
He pointed out that the Union Territory of Delhi had opted not to open public account.
