AP boy selected for International Science Fair in Seoul
Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, Jan 29 (UNI) An exhibit on stone crusher, prepared by Duvvada Prasad, a tenth class student of Zilla Parishad high school at Routhulapudi in East Godavari district, has been selected for the International Science Fair to be held in Seoul, South Korea, next month.
The exhibit had bagged the first prize in the district level science fair held in Ramachandrapuram in December last, qualifying for the state level science fair. It was awarded the second prize at the state level science fair held at Sangareddi in Medak district from January 9 to 12.
It clinched the first prize in physics stream at the South India level science fair, held at Tiruchirapalli in Tamil Nadu from January 21 to 25. In recognition of his talent and scientific temper, the student had been selected for the National Council of Science Museum scholarship.
Through the stone crusher-working model, the student had demonstrated how electrical power was converted into mechanical energy and how pollution could be controlled. The student also prepared two other exhibits -- a poclainer and a tipper -- and demonstrated their work based on hydraulic principle.
At a special function held here today in connection with the conclusion of the third junior women all India boxing championships, ZP Chairman S Venu Gopalakrishna complimented the student for bringing laurels to East Godavari district, especially to the Zilla Parishad school at Routhulapudi. The District BC Employees Association had announced Rs 5,000 as an incentive to the student.
