All India Forest Sports Meet will be held in Gandhinagar

Gandhinagar, Jan 29 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 16th All India Forest Sports Meet-2008 at Sports Authority of India ground here on February 1.

The National Forest Sports were organised for the first time during the year 1992-93 at Hyderbad with an objective to promote physical fitness and sense of camaraderie and friendship amongst the forestry personnel.

The five day event to be held in Gandhinagar would have participation of about two thousand men and women serving the forestry sectors in the states as well as the central government.

The events consists of Athletics, Discus Throw, Javelline throw, Swimming, Power Lifting, Carrom, Badminton, Billiards, Bridge, Hockey, Basketball, Tug of War, Long, High and Triple Jump , Shotput, Rifle Shooting, Weight Lifting, Chess, Table Tennis, Tennis, Snooker, Cricket, Volley ball, Kabadi.

The Minister of States, Environment and Forests S Regupathy will be Chief Guest on the occassion while Forest and Environment Minister of Gujarat Manugubhai Patel and State Minister of Forests and Environment Kiritsinh Rana will remain prsent during the inaugural function as Guest of Honours.
