Dubai, Jan 28 (UNI) Two Indians - Javagal Srinath and G A Prathap Kumar - figure in the list of Referees and umpires for the ICC U/19 Cricket World Cup to be held in Malaysia, from February 17 to March 2.
According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), the tournament will be overseen by three referees - Javagal Srinath, Mike Procter and Chris Broad.
The on-field umpires will be split between appointments from the Emirates International Panel of ICC Umpires and those from the ranks of the Associates and Affiliates.
Prathap Kumar is among the ten umpires selected by the ICC from its International Panel for the on-field duties.
The other umpires are: Peter Hartley (England), Marais Erasmus (South Africa), Gary Baxter (New Zealand), Steve Davis (Australia), Enamul Hoque-Moni (Bangladesh), Zameer Haider (Pakistan), Clyde Duncan (West Indies), Tyron Wijewardena (Sri Lanka) and Ian Robinson (Zimbabwe).
Meanwhile, Sarika Prasad (Singapore), Paul Baldwin (Germany), Roger Dill (Bermuda), Buddhi Pradhan (Nepal), Lakani Oala (Papua New Guinea) and Jeff Luck (Namibia) will represent the Associate and Affiliate world.
Controversial Australian, Darrell Hair from the Elite Panel of ICC Umpires, will also be present primarily as a continuation of his work with the accreditation and mentoring of development-level umpires.
The tournament will be played at seven venues in three cities around Malaysia - Johor, Kuala Lumpur and Penang.
The 16-team event includes sides from the 10 Full Members as well as the host country, and five regional qualifiers, Namibia (Africa), Papua New Guinea (East Asia-Pacific), Ireland (Europe), Nepal (Asia) and Bermuda (Americas).
