Sporting looks for win against Viva Kerala on home advantage

By Staff

Margao, Jan 28 (UNI) Sporting Club De Goa and Viva Kerala will prove their priorities when they clash in the 14th round ONGC I league championship match to be played here at Nehru stadium Fatorda tomorrow.

Though both teams played out a goal-less draw in the first leg, Sporting will go all out for a win using the home advantage to improve their standing in the high profile league.

Sporting, presently placed eighth in the league table, with 13 points from 13 outings, with only three wins, four draws and six defeats and are one point ahead of Viva Kerala, with 12 points from equal number of matches with three wins, three draws and seven defeats.

As both the teams need a win to avoid relegation it will be an interesting match tomorrow.

Sporting's technical Director Peter Valles, said that their defender Danzil Franco, who is booked with two yellow cards will not play tomorrow and midfielder Wilton Gomes, who is nursing his injury is also a doubtful starter. He said that Kerala is a good side but we will go all out for victory as we are desperately in need of points to move above Air India.

Sporting will mainly depend on strikers like Junior Elijah, Adjei Lawrence, Olushola, Harmanjot Singh Khabra and Fredy Mascrehas to deliver the goods.

Kerala too has a good strike force with Nigerian Baba Tunde, Wisdem Abbey and Awudu Adama and defender Tutu George, on whom they rely bang the target.
