Jamshedpur,Jan 28 (UNI) Chungda Sherpa of Services hit the bull's eye with precision to create a new national record in the men's compound round with 326 points while in women's recurve category World champions Dola Banerjee had relegated to the second spot on the opening day of the 28th Senior National Archery Championship at the JRD Tata sports complex here today.
Sherpa ecliplsed the previous record of 316 points in 90 metres,set by Vivek Kumar of CRPF.In the same category L Haridas and N Arun Kumar also from Services secured the second and third spots with 320 points each respectively.
In the men's 70 meters compound round Umesh B Kuvathekar of Madhya Pradesh notched up the top slot with 343 points while Ratan Kumar of Services got 342 for the second position and I R Sanam of Andhra Pradesh got 340 points for the third spot.
In the men's Indian round Uttam Keshri of Services bagged gold with with 325 points while O Basumatrai of Assam and A Wankhade of Tripura bagged silver and bronze collecting 321 points each respectively.
In the women's 70 M recurve round Bombaila Devi of Railwyas superseeded her compatriot and star archer Dola by four points to bag gold.Bombaila earned 320 points while Dola managed 316 points.V Pranitha of Steel Plants Sports Board(SPSB) also had 316 points to bag bronze.
In the 60 M women's recurve Reena Kumari of Railways topped with 335 points while Pranitha of SPSB stood second with (333 points) and Bombaila Devi (332 points) relegated to third spot in this category.UNI BDG AB VC2051
