New Delhi, Jan 28 (UNI) Police have approached the CBI for seeking a red corner notice from the Interpol against absconding Dr Amit Kumar, the kingpin of the multi-crore kidney transplant racket.
Sources said the Gurgaon police have written to the CBI to approach the Interpol for issuance of the red corner notice against Dr Amit Kumar.
Police fear that the Doctor might have fled the country, most probably to Nepal.
''If he has not fled the country so far, the doctor may make attempts to escape through illegal channels using his foreign contacts,'' the sources added.
Police have circulated photographs of Dr Amit Kumar and his brother Dr Jeevan Kumar and alerted airports across the country.
A red corner notice entails that most countries would be looking out for him.
Dr Amit Kumar had allegedly carried out more than 500 illegal kidney transplants during the past several years.
Police said the doctors used to sell each kidney for anything between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 20 lakh, they added.
