Puducherry, Jan 28 (UNI) The Puducherry government aided private school teachers and employees federation today urged the administration to redress their grievances immediately.
Addressing a press conference here, Federation president Seshachalam said the administration should remove the irregularities pertaining to EPF of employees which were converted into GPF in 1996. Instead of maintaining the GPF account with the Directorate of Accounts and Treasuries (DAT), it was being maintained with the Canara Bank and the employees were paid only the saving bank interest for their GPF deposit. They were also not getting any annual statement of their deposit and could not avail the final part payment after 15 years, Mr Seshachalam pointed out.
He also said those who retired after 2003, their service from 1987 only was being calculated for providing pension. The teachers post for sixth, seventh and eighth standard in government schools were upgraded into school assistant grade-two in 2002. However, this was not implemented in the aided private schools.
The teachers in the aided schools were not given senior scale pay after 12 years of service and selection grade pay after 24 years of service. There was no provision for assured career progression scheme, he said and urged the government to take immediate measures to set right the irregularities.
