Death sentence to one, life imprisonment to seven in Bihar

Patna, Jan 28 (UNI) One person was awarded death sentence, while seven others were given life imprisonment by two fast track court judges in Bihar today.

In the first judgement Additional district and sessions judge of Hajipur court in Vaishali district Premchandra Gupta found five people guilty of kidnapping and murdering Bittu(6), a native of Bari Yusufpur village in February 2006.

The court awarded death sentence to main accused Chintu Singh and life imprisonment to four of his accomplices.

In another case Banka district fast track court judge P S Chowdhury found three residents of Sawalpur village guilty of murdering another villager in February 2002 following a land dispute in February 2002, and awarded life imprisonment to all the three in addition to a fine of Rs 5,000 to each of the accused.
