Congress comes in support of people of Gaza
New Delhi, Jan 28 (UNI) The Congress Party today expressed its serious concern over the previling situation in Gaza, and called for an immediate and complete lifting of the blockade to allow urgently needed relief supplies to reach the besieged civilian population.
"The AICC hopes that all sides would abjure violence and abide by their agreed international obligations for an early negotiated resolution of all disputes," AICC Secretary in charge of media Tom Vadakkan said.
He said the recent developments in Gaza, escalation of violence and siege or Israeli forces have caused distress and severe hardship to the civilian population, especially the women and children.
"The blockade of Gaza has led to collapse of basic civic amenities, including electricity and water. The acute shortage of food, fuel and essential medicines threaten humanitarian crisis," he added.
