Book culprits under PCR Act for burning effigy: Chairman
Puducherry, Jan 28 (UNI) The steering and minitoring committee of Scheduled Caste sub-plan today demanded that those who burnt the effigy of Pondicherry Welfare Minister M Kandasamy be booked under PCR Act.
Addressing a press conference here, Committee chairman and former legislator Marimuthu said for the past 20 years Mr Kandasamy was working for the welfare of the scheduled castes here.
It was Mr Kandasamy, who brought to light that the government was not properly utilising the funds under the Special Component Plan (SCP) meant for the welfare of the SC people and provided polyster clothes for the community for Pongal.
While, five ministers revolted against the Chief Minister, Mr Kandasamy alone was targetted and his effigy burnt, which need to be strongly condemned, he said and demanded that all those involved for burning the effigy be booked under the PCR Act.
He alleged that the funds under the SCP was being diverted for other purpose here.
Mr Marimuthu alleged that Mr Deivanayagam, president of the committee to protect the interest of Dalits of Puducherry origin was acting against the interests of Dalits.
