New Delhi, Jan 27 (UNI) Their's has been a longstanding love affair with television, having given the small screen shows running across diverse genres, from the historical Bahadurshah Zafar, the epic television series 'Mahabharata' to family dramas like 'Kamini Damini' and 'Virasat'.

After the successful run of their last TV series 'Virasat', B R Films, helmed by Ravi Chopra, is back on the small screen with another show that seeks to "break the clutter of saas bahu sagas" on television.

Premiering on Star One tomorrow is 'Pari Hoon Main', a show about every common man's dreams of making it big in life in the face of adversity.

To be aired from Monday to Thursday at 2100 hrs, 'Pari..' explores the life of two girls, Nikki and Pari, hailing from contrasiting backgrounds.

Whiile Nikki is caring, considerate and a dreamer who often drifts into her dream world, Pari Rai Chaudhry, in clear contrast, is a superstar who is rich, spoilt, short tempered, vulnerable and insecure.

The story is about how their uncanny resemblance lands them in each other's shoes - they swap not only each other's space but also each other's destiny.

It is an attempt by Ravi Chopra to present a show dealing with a concept different from the "tried and tested" ones like the saas bahu soaps.

''As a producer, you need to look at the side spectrum of things. You do different things all the time. For example, as one of the pioneers on Indian television, we made historicals like Bahadur Shah Zafar and the highly successful epic series 'Mahabharat'. However, that does not mean one cannot do shows dealing with contemporary stories. That is the reason 'Pari Hoon Main' has come into being'.

''Unfortunately in India, we tend to replicate success by toeing the tried and tested genres, be it the saas-bahu series or family dramas. However, change is the way of life. Unless you change, you cannot go anywhere for people tend to get irritated over a period of time watching the same thing over and over again,''Ravi Chopra said at a press conference in the capital this weekend to promote his show.
