Districts lashed by heavy downpour, city sees sunny weather
Kolkata, Jan 27 (UNI) The rain gods brought slight respite to the city today, but did not do so in the districts, where it poured down heavily in several patrs of Gangetic West Bengal.
Alipore Met office recorded a minium temperature of 15.3 degrees Celsius, with rainfall in the last 24 hours being measured at 17.7 mm. Rainfall for the last two and half days have also brought down the humidity level, making the mornings chilly. However, later in the day, the city experienced warm and sunny weather.
However, rain poured down heavily in differnt parts of Gangetic Bengal. Digha recorded five cms rainfall, Coochbehar and Haldia four cms each, Canning and Diamondharbour three cms each; Alipore, Basirhat, Gopalpur, Paradeep and Puri two cms each, Jalpaiguri, Krishnanagar, Dumdum, Cuttack and Bhubaneswar one cmeach.
Alipore Met officials predicted that the sky will be partly cloudy during the day, the nights mainly clear, with possibility of mist or fog in the early mornings.
The minimum temperature in the next 24 hours is likely to be around 13 degrees Celsius.
Minimum temperature appreciably fell at many places in Gangetic West Bengal, while it rose at a few places in Sub Himalayan West Bengal.
Rain or thundershowers likely to occur in isolated places over the districts of East and West Midnapore and South 24 Parganas.
