Cong leaders favour delimitation of segments before polls

Bangalore, Jan 27 (UNI) The Congress leaders in Karnataka today favoured the delimitation process, which could result in drastic changes in the Assembly segments, to be completed before the mid-term polls in the state.

Congress in-charge and Union Minister Prithviraj Chauhan, who arrived in the city to attend a function to welcome eight former MLAs belonging to the Siddramaiah Group into the Congress fold held a meeting with top party leaders in Karnataka.

According to party sources, the leaders favoured the delimitation process to be completed before the election dates were announced.

The BJP had accused the Congress of ''conspiring'' to delay the election in the guise of bringing about the delimitation of Assembly segments and booths to neutralise the ''sympathy wave'' blowing in its favour.

The leaders, who attended the meeting, included former state Chief Minister Dharam Singh, KPCC President Mallikarjuna Kharge and R V Deshpande.
