Hyderabad, Jan 27 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Andhra Pradesh today alleged that the Congress and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) had no commitment towards statehood to Telangana and were misleading the people of the region with their statements.
Addressing a press confernece here, party spokesperson N Ramachander Rao said both the Congress and TRS had failed to honour the sentiments of the people of the region.
Terming the TRS Legislators submitting resignation letters to party President K Chandrasekhara Rao as a 'drama ', he said the TRS chief had colleced the resignation letters from the MLAs only to keep them in his control as he feared defection. Separate Telangana would not be achieved by tendering resignation letters, he added.
Mr Rao demanded that the Congress leaders from the Telangana region pressurise Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy to convince the party high command in the regard. Otherwise, the Congress leaders from the region should seek the resignation of the Chief Minister for his ''inability'' to get statehoood for Telangana.
He said the BJP was committed to smaller States and only a national party could achieve separate Telangana, that too only the BJP and not the TRS or the Congress.
