Kathmandu, Jan 27 (UNI) Around 1,11,000 Nepalese have gone to foreign countries for employment in the last six months, according to the Department of Labour and Employment Promotion.
The number of youths seeking foreign employment has increased by 25 per cent compared to the same period last year.
Qatar and Malaysia are the most popular countries of foreign employment for the Nepalese youths. A large number of Nepalese left the country without government permission and some reportedly went to Iraq and Afghanistan.
The government has banned the people to go to these war-torn countries, however, brokers send them illegally, it is said.
The government signed labour agreements with Qatar, the UAE and Malaysia recently, therefore, the number of people going to these countries has increased drastically, officials said.
Nepalese workers are prefered in Qatar, the UAE, Malaysia, Saudi Arbia and other Gulf countries as they are calm, labourious and honest, officials said.
