Lucknow, Jan 26: People of Uttar Pradesh got some respite from the nipping cold, as they witnessed a bright and sunny morning today.
The sun god came out from the veil of clouds at most places in UP, including Lucknow. People, who had preferred to remain indoors due to the spine-chilling cold from the past one week, came out to enjoy the sunny weather.
However, the state is observing cold nights with a dip in the temperatures.
The night temperatures at Bareilly, Allahabad, Agra, Moradabad, Jhansi and Meerut divisions remained several degrees below normal in the last 24 hrs, met sources informed.
Meerut was recorded the coldest at 4.1 degree Celsius, which was three notches below normal.
The rainfall that lashed Sonebhadra district two days before, had decreased the temperatures. One fresh death is also reported from the district.
The weatherman has forecast light showers accompanied by thunder at a few places of the state in the next 24 hrs.
Several long distance trains continued to remain affected due to the dense fog.
Road and air traffic was also affected.
