Srinagar, Jan 26: The overall security situation in the Kashmir valley has improved considerably, Inspector General of CRPF Sunil Kumar Jain said.
He said the incidents of militancy related violence has come down and there has been considerable improvement in the overall situation.
In an informal chat with the reporters after unfurling the National flag at historic Lal Chowk, near here, Mr Jain said the improvement in the situation was achieved mainly because of full cooperation from the common people and the supreme sacrifices made by the security personnel.
He said that situation will further improve.
A large number of security personnel were also present at Lal chowk, which was sealed from all sides with sharp shooters keeping a close watch from the high rise buildings.
The function passed off peacefully.
