Republic Day celebrated with gaiety in Rajasthan
Jaipur, Jan 26 (UNI) The 59th Republic Day was celebrated throughout Rajasthan with traditional gaiety and fervour marking ceremonial parades, unfurling of the tricolour, colourful cultural programmes and felicitation of dignitaries from various walks of life.
Governor Shilendra Kumar Singh unfurled the national flag, took salute from parade at the state level function held at the Patel Stadium in Ajmer.
Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and galaxy of dignitaries were present on the occasion which was marked with impressive combined parade by the security forces, NCC cadets, scouts and guides and colourful cultural programme by school children.
As many as 51 dignitaries were honoured on this occasion. The awards presented at the function included the prestigious President's Medals to three police officers, Police Medals to 15 police personnel and Uttam Jeevan Rakshya gallantry Medals to two brave citizens.
The day was celebrated at all district headquarters. Food and Civil Supply Minister Ghanshyam Tiwari unfurled the tricolour at Chogan Stadium in the state capital.
