Karachi, Jan 26 (UNI) Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Nasim Ashraf has denied being aware of whether the insurance cover of 7.4 million dollar for Australia's tour of Pakistan in March this year is security specific or not.
Asked if open tenders or quotations were invited for such a huge amount of insurance cover, in wake of the transparency claims, Ashraf said ''Though we searched for the insurance policy in Pakistan but it was only available in UK and yes PCB did not invite any quotation or tenders through public advertisement as it was not required.'' Ashraf seemed lost when asked if the insurance policy had the specific clause ensuring that PCB would be compensated if the Australian government did not allow its team to tour Pakistan in March for security reasons.
''I am telling you honestly that I cannot answer this question as I don't know the details of the Insurance policy if it contains the specific clause relating to cancellation of tour on security reasons.'' ''However, this is a comprehensive policy securing Pakistan from financial losses in case Australia refused to come to Pakistan for any reason,'' Ashraf claimed.
He made it clear that ''if Australian team does not come to Pakistan in March, the tour will stand cancelled and there will be no shifting or switching of the series.'' UNI XC RAR SG AS1606
