Jammu, Jan 26 (UNI) A border personnel meeting was held between the Indian and Chinese military delegations today at the Indian Border Personnel Meeting Hut at Chushul to celebrate the 59th Republic Day, official sources said.
''The Chinese delegation was received by the Indian delegation leader Brig Surinder Singh while the tri-colour was hoisted,'' official sources said, adding that it was followed by a formal meeting wherein both sides agreed to join hands in contributing towards promoting peace, stability and development of the region in consonance with border peace and tranquility agreements.
India and China signed two landmark agreements, namely Peace and Tranquility agreement in 1993 and Confidence Building measures agreement in 1996, to improve the bilateral relations.
Recent Indo-Chinese joint anti-terrorism exercise has also paved the way for greater interaction between border forces of both the sides and to improve the relations further, border personnel meetings are held four times a year between the Indian and Chinese military delegations.
