Hyderabad, Jan 26 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Governor N D Tiwari today led the State in celebrating Republic Day with enthusiasm rendering a patriotic song and giving a call to political parties and NGOs to evolve a consensus on development model to be adopted and executed in the 21st century and beyond.
Speaking after unfurling the National Flag and inspecting the ceremonial parade on the Republic Day amid tight security, he said the State was poised for a big leap in growth of IT and other industries with world class infrastructure put in place by the government.
Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker K R Suresh Reddy were among those who took part in the celebrations.
Former President A P J Abdul Kalam, who was in the city, ignited the minds of youth participating in 59th Republic Day Celebrations, organised by Lead India 2020 Foundation to bring mass awareness about fundamental duties.
Later Dr Kalam launched an unique entrepenuership programme of the TIE, Hyderabad and Pan IIT Alumni Association on the occasion to facilitate provision of urban facilities in rural areas for the overall development of the nation.
