Vigilance increased throughout North Bengal ahead of R-Day
Siliguri, Jan 25 (UNI) Security arrangements throughout North Bengal have been stepped up and three companies of additional forces deployed in view of the Republic Day celebrations tomorrow.
North Bengal Inspector General of Police (IGP) R J S Nalwa said here today that vigilance had been increased and the BSF alerted to keep a close watch on all border areas.
Besides, the Indo-Bangla border would remain sealed throughout the day tomorrow, the IGP informed.
Meanwhile, Additional Divisional Railway Magistrate of the Northeast Frontier Railway Partha Mandal said all night trains from Assam, running between 1800 hrs to 0600 hrs, would remain suspended from January 24 to 27 to prevent any untoward incident.
Besides, the railway police and military personnel will guard the stations as well as the tracks in the run up to the Republic day celebration.
