New Delhi, Jan 25: The cold wave, sweeping Delhi since the beginning of this week, slightly abated today with the mercury rising to 5.6 degrees Celsius.

Though cold Northwesterly winds continued to lend chill to the air, a cloud cover over the skyline led to a rise in the minimum temperature, from 2.4 degrees Celsius yesterday, to 5.6 degrees C, two degrees below normal. Meanwhile, visibility levels remained normal today. The coming days could witness a further abatement in chill with weathermen forecasting a rise in minimum temperature to 7 degree C tomorrow. The Met office has forecast a partly cloudy sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours.

After unusually warm weather conditions last week, the Capital has been experiencing a cold wave since the beginning of this week.
