Jamshedpur, Jan 25 (UNI) The body of the slain Indian student, Abhijit Mahto, who was shot dead at the Duke University campus in Durham, America, on Janurary 18, would be flown here at Gamharia near here tomorrow.
Jharkhand Deputy chief minister Sudhir Mahto today said that he met Union External Affrairs minister Pranab Mukherjee in New Delhi yesterday and discussed about handing over the body to his relatives at the earliest.
Mr Mahto said Mr Mukherjee had assured all sorts of help on behalf of the government to bring back the body from the US and said he talked to to Indian ambassador in the US in this regard and the body was being flown to India today.
Mr Mahto said the body would reach Delhi tommorow and it would be brought to Jamshedpur via Ranchi.
The state government would bear all the cost to hand over the body to Abhijit's family.
Abbhijit was gunned down by some youths near the university campus and acting on tip off the US government had arrested three youths including the shooter, Mr Mahto said.
He also expressed concern over the lack of security to the Indian students in the United States and urged the Centre to initiate appropritate stepts to recur such incident.
