Security up in TN for R Day
Chennai, Jan 25 (UNI) Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place in Tamil Nadu ahead of Republic Day celebrations tomorrow.
Police sources said more than 2,000 police personnel would be deployed on security duty. They would also be posted in all vital installations like Railway stations, bus depots and all other important places, where people would congregate in large numbers.
Patrolling was intensified and maintained round-the-clock and check posts were installed in all the entry points of the state.
Vehicles entering the state and city were being thoroughly checked.
Security has also been beefed up in Chennai airport and the entry of visitors had been banned.
Movement of anti-social elements would also be closely monitored, the sources said.
Tight security was also made near Gandhi Statue on the Marina, where Tamil Nadu Governor S S Barnala would unfurl the National Flag.
