Rameswaram, Jan 25 (UNI) A salvage team set sail to sea this afternoon to bring back four Indian fishermen, stranded in the Katchatheevu island after their mechanised fishing boat sank at mid sea on Wednesday last.

Official sources said 12 fishermen, who ventured into the sea in three mechanised boats were reported missing.

While eight of them returned to the shore in two boats, four fishermen-- Muniasamy, Navamani, Gnani Muthusamy and Selvam-- all from Rameswaram, had not reached the shore till this morning.

It was reported that the four fishermen had safely swam to Katchatheevu, after their mechanised boat sank in the sea due to a technical snag.

A salvage team, comprising local fishermen after getting a Search Order from Tamil Nadu Fisheries Department authorities left for Katchatheevu, this afternoon to bring their stranded colleagues back.

The team was expected to reach Rameswaram coast along with the four fishermen tonight, the sources added.
