Mumbai, Jan 25 (UNI) Artists from all over India and various other countries will come together on February 3 to mark the eighth ''barsi'' of legendary tabla maestro Ustad Allarakha.
Speaking to reporters today Ustad Allarakha's son Ustad Zakir Hussain said, ''Through these eight years we have had the good fortune of having some of the greatest luminaries of Indian music bless this occasion along with masters representing many musical and rhythmic traditions from all across the globe.'' The event will be held at the Shanmukhananda Hall here.
''This year we will start the programme with 'Taal Pranam' and finish the night with the Jam Session,'' Ustad Zakir Hussain said yesterday.
Among those who would perform at the event, are Pt Rajan and Sajan Mishra (vocal), Pt Umayalpuram K Sivaraman (Mrudangam), Bela Flick (USA - Banjo), Edgar Meyer (USA Bass), Antonio Sanchez (Drums), Pt Suresh Bhai Gaitonde (Tabla), Ajay Joglekar (Harmonium) and Ustad Zakir Hussain.
