Minor killed; tractor mob set ablaze

Kanpur, Jan 25 (UNI) Two persons, including a minor, were killed when a speeding truck hit their motorcycle in Raipurwa area here today.

The incident occured near Aphim Kothi crossing, when Ashish was going to drop his daughter Nidhi (12) to school, senior Superintendent of Police Annand Swarup told UNI.

Both, father and daughter died on the spot.

Irked over the incident, an angry mob went on a rampage, blocking roads and movement of traffic.

They also set on fire the tractor and resorted to brickbatting.

Swinging into action, police used mild force to disperse the mob.

Reportedly, few persons received minor injuries during the protest.

The tractor driver was arrested and the bodies were sent for postmortem.

A case had also been registered against those involved in the rampage.

Investigations were underway.
