KPCC chief to observe fast against price hike on Feb 5
Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 24 (UNI) Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Ramesh Chennithala would observe a day's fast in front of the state secretariat on February five to protest the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government's failure to check the skyrocketing of pricess of essential commodities.
After a meeting of KPCC executive members and DCC presidents here, Mr Chennithala told reporters that the meeting had decided to observe one-day fast and organise dharnas in the evening in all panchayats of the state.
Though Food and Civil Supplies Minister and Chief Minister had repeatedly assured that the government would take all measures to check the price hike, no effective measures had been taken so far, he alleged.
Asking the government to provide subsidy to Kerala Milk Marketing Co-operative (MILMA) to overcome the crisis in the society, the Congress leader alleged that the state government was adopting a discrimination attitutde towards MILMA, as it had given subsidy to Kerala State Rubber Co-operative (RUBCO), a CPI(M) controlled institution.
