Jopseph demands Western rail corridor to be included in budget
Kottayam, Jan 25 (UNI) Kerala Congress (J) leader P J Joseph today demanded that the high-speed western rail corridor from Mumbai to Kanyakumari should be included in the budget for making an appropriate allocation.
Addressing a press conference here, he said the matter would be brought to the notice of UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi. The corridor would help reduce regional disparity, Mr Joseph said.
He was here as part of his campaign rally in support of the demand for the rail corridor.
Referring to projects like track doubling and other railway developments in the state, Mr Joseph charged that the Southern Railway was deliberately delaying the works in order to sabotage the developments.
