I missed a chance to create history : Harbahajan

Adelaide, Jan 25 (UNI) Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh was confident of scoring a ton against Australia, but Andrew Symonds put paid to his dream of making history in the final Test here today.

Harbhajan regrets playing that shot when he tried to sweep Symonds from outside the off-stump, but only succeeded in lobbing it into the safe hands of wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist very easily.

''Had I known what was in store for me, I would have never played that shot and scored a hundred... It was a stupid shot to get out on,'' he said after the second day's play.

''A hundred was easy on this kind of wicket and the track is still good,'' he added.

Indian offie, who hit a crucial 63-runs, helped Indian scoreboard to cross the 400 mark but was very much disappointed when he reached the dressing room and the master blaster told him that he missed the aportunity.

''I got a blasting when I returned to the dressing room. Sachin (Tendulkar) told me 'it was a rare opportunity and you missed it,'' he said addind, ''But we learn from our mistakes and I will also try not to repeat it.'' This was the second time in this Test series when the 27-year-old right-arm spinner hit a half century against Australia in their home soil.

Earlier, Harbhajan scored 63-run knock in the first innings of the second Test at Sydney.
