Jaipur, Jan 25: With the setting up of second car manufacturing plant in Chennai next month, the production capacity of Hyundai Motors India Limited (HMIL) will go up by 3 lakh cars per annum. Talking to reporters here today, HMIL Managing Director and CEO Heung Soo Lheem said the new extension plant near Chennai is slated to be inaugurated next month which will double the company's production from present level of 3 lakh units per annum.
Mr Lheem said his company, India's fastest growing car exporter, has produced 3.3 lakh cars during 2007. Of this, 80,000 cars were exported to various countries while the remaining 2.5 lakh units were sold in the domestic market. Keeping pace with the augumentation in production, the company has set a target of manufacturing 5.3 lakh cars during the next one year and to export 2.5 lakh cars during the period.
Mr Lheem was in the town to participate in the inauguration ceremony of new Morani Hyundai dealership here. With this, total number of operational dealerships of the company in Rajasthan has gone up to 10.
