Australian women business leaders to visit India

Mumbai, Jan 25: A high-profile Australian women business leaders' delegation will visit India from January 28 to February 2. The visit, the first of its kind, is organised by the Australian Trade Commission.

The 16-member delegation, led by Australian fashion designer and Chairperson of Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) Carla Zampatti, includes business leaders and professionals representing a cross section of industry sectors like jewellery, fashion, retail, media, education, energy, construction, telecom, finance, healthcare and professional services.

Australian Trade Commission's Senior Trade Commissioner to South Asia, Mike Moignard said, ''India is Australia's fourth largest and fastest growing export market. This visit by senior Australian women business leaders is recognition of the important commercial relationship and an opportunity for them to see first-hand the vital contribution made by Indian women to this vibrant economy.'' Mr Moignard stated, ''An increasing number of Australian business, led by women are finding overseas success. Women run one third of Australia's small business and women entrepreneurs help drive Australia's export effort - there are more than 19,000 women exporters in Australia.'' The Australian Trade Commission has embarked a focused sector-specific strategy to offer Australian technology, expertise and solutions for Indian businesses in the areas of resources, mining and energy, infrastructure, food and beverage, agri-business, ICT, film, media and entertainment, retail, financial services.

The Indian business community, especially women in business will find tremendous value through association and partnerships with Australian women business leaders, Mr Moignard added.
