Workshop on food security in eastern states
Patna, Jan 24 (UNI) Bihar Agriculture Commissioner H S Madhavan has said that the programmes running under National Food Security Mission requires proper initiative to yield better result for the farmers in the eastern region.
Inagurating a workshop on ''Food security in Eastern states'' here last night, Mr Madhavan said the motive behind the workshop was to accelerate the production of the high yielding variety seeds.
''The state government has procured 140 quintals of HYV lentil seeds to be produced in the state,'' Mr Madhavan stated.
The state government had also fixed a target of producing 2250 quintal of gram seeds by the end of next year, he added.
The Agriculture Commissioners of Jharkhand, West Bengal, Assam and Chhattisgarh also participated in the workshop.
