Kolkata, Jan 24: Veteran stage actor, dramatist and producer Swapan Kumar, who etched his name quickly in entertaining field with production and lead role in Michael, died in a city hospital on Wednesday night.
He was 75. He is survived by his wife and three sons. Swapan Kumar, admitted to SSKM Hospital on December 31 following multiple problem, died at 2150 hours, family sources told UNI.
Besides producing and acting in scores of plays since the 50s, he also acted in some motion pictures including ''Stree'' (wife) starred by late Uttam Kumar.
Born at Kachrapara in North 24-Parganas, Swapan Kumar last produced and acted in mid-nineties titled ''Bhai-Bon''. He will be cremated tomorrow.
He was recently felicitated by West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee for his contibution towards art and theatre.
