Opposition is politically bankrupt: J
Jammu, Jan 24 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Finance Minister Tariq Hameed Karra today accused the opposition of tearing the ''sanctity'' of the Legislative Assembly and ''demolishing the Parliamentary practices'' by holding the Assembly to ransom.
In his reply to the discussion on the budget, Mr Karra said, ''If they (opposition members) are bent upon exhibiting their traditional uncivilised behaviour in the House and disrupting proceedings, I will hand in my written reply to the honourable Speaker purely for the purpose of records.'' Pointing to the agitating opposition National Conference (NC) members, the Finance Minister accused them of being ''a politically bankrupt lot who had torn the sanctity of the Assembly into pieces and demolished the established Parliamentary practice''.
While countering an allegation of opposition leader Abdul Rahim that he had played with the figures in the budget, Mr Karra accused the Mr Rahim of being himself being a ''master fabricator of figures''.
