Muslim cleric Ali Miyan new recommendation for Bharat Ratna
Lucknow, Jan 24 (UNI) The name of late Maulana Syed Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi, a Muslim cleric, has been recommended for the country's highest civilian award 'Bharat Ratna.' A non-government organisation, named after late Maulana Ali's name, has urged President Pratibha Patil to confer the highest national honour Bharat Ratna on him.
Organisation's General Secretary Syed Saud Ishrat said, '' Maulana Ali spread the message of humanity and brotherhood among all religion and caste.'' He had also started a movement named as 'Payam-e-Insaniyat' to spread this message, he informed.
His outstanding contributions should be kept in mind, Mr Ishrat added.
Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, CPI (M) leader Jyoti Basu and BSP founder Kashiram have already been recommended for the award.
