Mumbai, Jan 24: The Mahindra Scorpio SUV and its Pick-Up range- Single and Double cab will be launched in Brazil, in partnership with Manaus, Brazil based production and assembly specialist firm - Bramont-Montadora Industrial e Comercial de Veiculos. The 4x2 and 4x4 versions of the vehicle will roll out of a state-of-the-art assembly facility with an annual capacity for 5,000 vehicles. The body assembly will be undertaken by Usiparts, while the chassis, suspension and the 2.6 litre 110 bhp common rail Mahindra engine will be assembled by Bramont at its plant in Manaus, said a release.
Pravin Shah, Executive VP, International Operations, said, '' The Brazilian economy and automotive industry is highly evolved and has strategic importance for Mahindra. This is the first assembly facility in South America for the Mahindra Scorpio platform...Our partner Bramont has a professionally managed network of dealers in the competitive Brazilian market''.
Mahindra also plans to offer the vehicles with Euro IV compliant engine and enter the US market in 2009, the release added.
