Land rights to 20,000 Bhudaan families in Rajasthan

Ajmer, Jan 24 (UNI) As many as 20,784 landless people who were allotted lands which were acquired under the Bhudaan campaign in 1954, will now have khatedari right.

The amendments being effected in the sections 24 and 25 of the Rajasthan Bhudaan Yagna Act 1954, to facilitate above move, were approved by the Rajasthan Cabinet which met here today under the leadership of Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.

Around 2.87 lakh acres of land was donated by landowners in Rajasthan during the Bhudaan Yagna Movement speareheaded by Vinoba Bhave. Of the 1.15 lakh acres of land which was allotted to 20,784 landless families who were not having khatedari land title rights over this land till now.

Besides this, the state cabinet has also decided to constitute Rajasthan State Para Medical Council to register and monitor institutons imparting education in different paramedical disciplines including Physiotherapy and to register graduates in these courses.

The Cabinet also cleared proposal of filling of vacancies of doctors and other para medical staff in rural areas under newly constituted Rajasthan Rural Health Service.

It has also approved the proposal of regularisation of services of 195 lecturers who were serving in various universities in Rajasthan on adhoc basis for past 20 years.
