Patna, Jan 24 (UNI) Sleuths of the special unit of the vigilance bureau today conducted simultaneous raids at five different areas under the chief engineer of the minor irrigation department Avdhesh Prasad Singh and seized Rs 48,92,000 in cash and investment-related doccuments.
IG of the special unit Abhaya Kumar Upadhyaya here today said the raid was conducted in connection with the disproportionate asset case.
The raids were conducted at his Patna-based residence and office, his village residence in Pokhra of Samastipur district and another office in Muzaffarpur.
Mr Singh owned a flat in Kolkata and fixed property in Muzaffarpur.
The bank lockers could not be opened in want of the key, Mr Upadhyaya said and added, ''The actual assessment of the recoveries would be done later on.'' UNI RS LL/src BDP VC2228
