Hyderabad, Jan 24 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Rural Development Minister G Chinna Reddy said that the State Government has been implementing the prestigious National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme (NREGP) in a transparent manner and with utmost accountability.
Inaugurating a one day seminar on 'NREGP', jointly organised by the Praksam Institue of Development Studies and R G Kedia College here today, he said the Government was implementing the programme in 19 districts. The State Government had already issued 82.54 lakh job cards benefitting 68.66 lakh people, includinvg 36.19 lakh women, he added.
He said the Government had already disbursed Rs 1,565.49 crore as wages under the programme so far. The migration of the people from villages to cities had drastically reduced due to the strict implementation of this programme in the State.
He said the State Government had conducted social inspection in 8,929 gram panchayats and removed 421 field assistants, 160 technical assistants and four programme officers, who were allegedly involved in irregularities in implementing the service.
