CPI(ML)'s Bihar bandh passes off peacefully
Patna, Jan 24 (UNI) The CPI-ML sponsored dawn-to-dusk Bihar bandh today to protest last week's Kahalgaon police firing in Bhagalpur district, passed off peacefully evoking a partial response.
Official sources here said there was no report of any untoward incident, but more than four hundred agitators had been rounded up from across the state.
Life all over the state, including the state capital, here remained normal as business establishments, educational institutions and offices were open and vehicles plied normally.
The state government had made elaborate security arrangements all over Bihar, particularly in the CPI(ML) pockets as a precautionary measure.
However, running of a number of passenger trains were delayed for sometime following the bandh.The Bandh supporters also blocked the National Highways at several places for sometime but soon normalcy was restored after the blockade on the NHs were lifted with the timely intervention of the local authorities and the security personnel.
Meanwhile,the CPI (ML)has claimed that the bandh was successful and said vehicular traffic in most parts of the state remained off the roads and the business establishments remained closed particularly in Jehanabad, Siwan, Ara, Darbhanga, Gaya, Biharsharif, Bahagalpur and other districts.
