New Delhi, Jan 24 (UNI) In view of the threats received from various insurgent groups before Republic Day, the Centre has alerted Northeastern states to take adequate precautionary measures to prevent any terror attack.
Home Ministry sources said here the advisory has been issued specifically to insurgency-affected states of the Northeast including Assam and Nagaland about the possible militant attacks. They have been asked to beef up the security in view of the Republic Day celebrations.
The alert is siginificant in view of ULFA giving a boycott call along with many other militant organisations. Insurgency-affected Nagaland is going to poll while many militant outfits are also active in Manipur. Intelligence reports about HUJI becoming active recently has also been reportedly received prompting the Centre to alert the state to remain vigilant and improve security scenario.
